How JobShifu works, stage by stage
Every rejection has a stage, and the stages fail differently. Silence, wrong fit, and stalled interviews have different causes. Your shifu, a master teacher, reads where your hunt is stuck and puts the work there.
-
Discover
Fresh postings from employer boards put you among the first applicants, not under three thousand earlier ones.
-
Fit
Fit scoring shows where you match, overshoot, or fall short, before you spend the effort.
-
Tailor
The resume is rebuilt from your Vault in minutes, every line passing the Calibration check.
-
Autofill
The application fills itself from your profile. You review every field and approve before Submit.
-
Interview
Drill STAR stories built from your own record and walk in with a company dossier.
-
Grow
Between applications, close the skill gaps jobs keep asking about and strengthen your weakest bullets. Your Vault compounds for this job and the next.
About the product
What is JobShifu?
JobShifu helps you find jobs, compare requirements, tailor resumes and manage applications. You can browse public job listings without an account. Create an account to save jobs and use your confirmed experience across tailoring and other application tools.
How is this different from using ChatGPT to write my resume?
You can give a chat assistant your resume and ask it to tailor the wording. JobShifu adds a reusable career record, proposed changes for review and source references. It helps you identify relevant experience missing from your resume and save confirmed additions for later applications. Its checks can flag unsupported wording, but you still need to review the result.
Which AI model does JobShifu use?
Resume tailoring uses Anthropic's Claude. The model writes proposals; the Calibration Engine checks source references and flags possible wording problems. A valid reference does not prove that a sentence accurately describes your work. Review the proposed changes before using the document.
Does JobShifu work for non-technical jobs?
Yes. Nothing in the approach is specific to software. The vault holds roles, projects and achievements in any field, and the calibration check works on citations rather than on subject matter.
Vocabulary and framing adapt to the field you are targeting, so the language proposed for a nursing role is not the language proposed for a backend engineering one.
Will JobShifu apply to jobs for me automatically?
No, and it is not a missing feature. JobShifu fills the application and stops. Pressing Submit is always your action.
Mass auto-applying produces volume rather than interviews, and an application sent without you reading it is one you cannot follow up on, correct, or even remember making. The product is built to make each application better rather than to make more of them.
Does JobShifu guarantee I'll get a job?
No, and anyone promising that is not worth listening to.
What it can do is remove the failures that are actually fixable: applying late to postings that already have hundreds of applicants, spending evenings on roles you were never a fit for, sending a generic resume, and walking into interviews unable to talk about your own bullets. It cannot control who is hiring.
Getting started
Can I import my existing resume?
Yes. JobShifu reads your existing resume into a reusable career record. Review the imported details, correct mistakes and confirm relevant additions as you work through applications. Accurate source material matters because later resumes and answers draw on that record.
Does JobShifu work with CVs, or only resumes?
Both, because for most of the world they are the same document under a different name. If you are in the UK, Ireland, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore or most of Europe, the file you upload is your CV and everything works identically: read, proposed as vault entries, confirmed by you, tailored per job.
It also handles the other sense of the word, the long academic CV running to many pages. That case works better than a short resume rather than worse, because a master CV holds more confirmed evidence to draw on, and tailoring is a matter of selecting from it.
The interface says resume throughout. That is a vocabulary choice, not a limitation.
How long does setup take?
Importing a resume and confirming what it found is a first sitting; you can tailor immediately afterwards.
The vault keeps growing after that, though, and that is the design. Every job description you read surfaces things your resume left out, and confirming those makes the next tailoring stronger. It is less a setup step than something that compounds.
Do I need the Chrome extension?
No. The web app is the full product: tailoring, fit, tracking and interview prep all work without it.
The extension adds the two things that can only happen on the page you are applying from: saving a posting where you found it, and filling the application form. What the extension does.
Pricing
The short answers are below; the full picture, every plan, what is free forever, and how cancelling and refunds work, is on the pricing page.
How much can I do for free?
Unlimited job matches, two tailored resumes a day, three cover letters a month, screener answers every week, plus your Vault, autofill and the tracker. No card. Pro adds higher limits, first-hours job alerts and deeper interview prep. Plans are on the pricing page.
Why isn't everything free?
Because tailoring a resume is not free to provide. Every tailoring run costs real money in model usage, which means unlimited free tailoring is a promise that ends either in a quiet quality downgrade or in the product disappearing.
The split follows that line rather than a marketing one: work that costs us nothing per use is free, work that has a real per-use cost is what you pay for.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from Settings, and it takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. Your vault and documents remain accessible on the free tier afterwards.
Your account and your data
What happens to my data if I leave?
Your vault is scoped to your account and isolated at the database level, so it is readable only by you. You can wipe its entire contents in one action from Settings, and you can delete the account outright, which removes your data and cancels any subscription.
Both are real deletions rather than a flag that hides your account. What JobShifu collects and how it is handled is set out in the privacy policy.
Can I export my documents?
Yes. Resumes and cover letters export as PDF, DOCX or Markdown, named the way recruiters expect with your name first.
Every version also carries a short three-character code so you can tell near-identical documents apart at a glance.
